Podcasting’ delegates
I want you to get as much out of the day as possible but –
You might be a complete computer beginner, keen on the uses of Podcasting but willing to get technical staff do the techy stuff
And/or familiar with computers and wanting to do the technical stuff of getting your Podcast online
To get the best out of the day, I will provide you with a CD of software and examples and a book, when you get there, but if you want to be better prepared you might want to do some of these things beforehand.
On the laptop that you will be bringing that day:
Get the latest version of iTunes installed – make sure it works and you can hear music.
http://juicereceiver.sourceforge.net/index.php - visit and download Juice. – install it – it’s free
http://www.easypodcast.com/ - visit and download Easypodcast – install it - it’s free
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ - visit and download Audacity – install it. It’s free. Plug a microphone in and try to get it to work. 50% of computers need to have the sound system tweaked to get their computer to work.
www.podomatic.com - visit and sign up – it’s free. Bring the details of the site – username/password – with you. Visit http://laurm.podomatic.com - that’s me.
Nearer the date, visit my site – www.laurencemoss.co.uk - - it’s not ready as of writing but I will put a Podcast on there. And/or email me – laurencemoss@hotmail.com for details.
Your laptop doesn’t have to be anything special – as long as it is working and you have the passwords to allow you to load programmes on to it – and power leads etc!
Bring something to make a Podcast about:
Audio – bring something to read, or a tape recording of students reading/talking/joking/singing/playing – it can be on a cassette tape or a Cdrom/MP3 player
Video – you’ll get a chance to record something on video – bring a comb for your hair!! Bring something to read/sing/play an instrument/weather forecast etc.
Internet connection – if you want to use the internet with your laptop on the day, you will have to bring a laptop which is wireless enabled, and you will have to buy a day’s/hour subscription if appropriate.
